What to Prepare Before Building Your Website
May 27, 2026 · Deep Sea Web Design
The smoothest web projects start before a single page is designed. When you come prepared, we can move faster — and you spend less. Here’s what to gather.
1. Know your goal
Are you trying to get phone calls? Bookings? Quote requests? A website that’s trying to do everything does nothing well. Pick the single most important action you want visitors to take.
2. Round up your content
- Your logo and any brand colors
- Photos of your work, team, or location
- A list of your services and what they cost
- Any reviews or testimonials you’re proud of
Don’t worry about polish — we’ll help shape it. We just need the raw material.
3. List your competitors
Send us two or three competitor websites: one you admire, one you don’t, and one that’s ranking well. It tells us a lot about your market and your taste in about five minutes.
4. Think about the future
Will you want to add a blog? Take bookings online? Sell products later? Knowing roughly where you’re headed helps us build something you won’t outgrow in a year.
Bring those four things to your first call and we’ll hit the ground running.
